Fortnite’s Loot Lake Mystery Rune Device Could Actually A Massive, Buried Flying Saucer

[ad_1]

This week, we saw excavation unearth something huge and Loot Lake, some sort of metal…area that has a central circular door, and now has five prongs that are beginning to broadcast holographic runes.

What is this thing and what is it doing? Even leakers are stumped, as whatever event is going to happen, no one can quite get a handle on what it will be. Something with a beam of light, maybe. That’s really the only concrete thing I’ve heard.

But I have a theory of my own. I think we are seeing the top of a giant flying saucer buried in the Fortnite map. One that could very well rise out of the earth and rip up a huge chunk of the map as it does so.

Why do I think this? Two reasons.

First, what we’re seeing with our own eyes. Yes, the part at Loot Lake just…looks like a flying saucer, but I think we’re underestimating just how big this thing is. We have to remember that this extends all the way to the third dig site east of Loot Lake, and when you pull back, this is the potential area of thing. It’s massive, and a circular pattern seems like the right size for a very large space ship.

Past this, I think there are lore reasons as well. Er, as much lore as Fortnite can generate, that is.

What we are witnessing appears to be the entire endgame of the comet/Visitor storyline. To recap:

A comet crashed to earth containing The Visitor, clearing from another planet.

The Visitor launched a rocket which tore open a dimension rift in the sky.

Out of that rift came the Cube, which rolled around and made its way to Loot Lake where it dissolved, the hovered, then blew up.

And now underneath that exact spot, we see this giant, clearly alien-looking device? I don’t think that’s a coincidence, and this could be the thing that gets The Visitor home. That’s why he summoned the Cube which went to this exact spot and eventually, got this thing unearthed. Or, the Cube actually summoned it here back when it was spinning in the air and blowing up, hence the vortex below it. That implies this may not have been there until the Cube got here, and the Cube was the one to bring it here.

It’s weird, because I thought we were done with this plotline, as the Ice King and Fire King and Ruin seem to have little to do with any of this, but perhaps I’m missing some connection there.

The point is, I think it would be a bit of a letdown if this was just a “door in the floor.” But it would absolutely be Epic topping themselves, which they are always trying to do, if a flying saucer ripped itself out of the earth and either left, or became a new zone by itself.

With these runes appearing, we have one showing up now and four prongs left to go. If something happens when they all activate, that probably puts us at an event happening next Monday or Tuesday, possibly Tuesday or Wednesday if it arrives with an actual patch. If my theory is right, we could see other stuff before the ship comes up, which may not happen until the very end of the season. Or I might be wrong and this is just a big metal bunker thing in the ground. But hey, that’s what theorizing is for.

Here Are Fortnite’s Ruin Discovery Skin Challenges And Their Rewards

[ad_1]

Week 8 has finally arrived, and with it, enough challenges so players can finally get their hands on the Ruin skin, the magma knight that has an as-of-yet-unknown role to play in Fortnite lore, but the way he looks implies he may be some sort of agent of the Fire King. Or perhaps even his overlord, I’m not sure.

With Ruin’s arrival, we now have a series of Ruin-specific challenges that ask you to well, ruin things. They are very destruction focused, and fans have theorized Ruin may end up trashing the map somehow by the end of the season. Here are the challenges for him:

  • Destroy Trees (0/50)
  • Destroy Rocks (0/50)
  • Destroy Cars, Trucks or RVs (0/20)
  • Deal damage to opponents’ structures (0/10,000)
  • Outlast opponents (0/1,000)
  • Complete daily challenges (0/5)

Three completions will get you the Ruin back bling:

All six will get you the Ruin pickaxe, both of which are kind of must-have additions to the character:

It’s a bit of a bummer we don’t have progressive, unlockable styles like we did with The Prisoner last year and his mini questline, but I suppose this is better than nothing.

Is there a good way to go about completing these? Fatal Fields is not a bad bet for a sparsely populated area that will allow you to farm in relative piece. For cars you are probably going to want to go to Tilted or Retail or Pleasant, given that you need an urban area to find a number of those to break down.

Damage to opponent structures is pretty straightforward, and remember, this counts when you are breaking down any structure that someone has built, even when it was from a fight a long time ago. And outlasting opponents is something that you will do naturally as you can pretty much AFK and outlast 50 people a game. But you know, just play, and you’ll do it too.

Since Ruin does not have unlockable styles I’m not sure that I can consider him better than The Prisoner last season. What I am curious about is if he will “debut” in some way on the map the way we saw with his predecessor melting in ice, like if he emerges from the weird door thing at Loot Lake, but we have seen no signs of that yet, so I’m not sure. Again, usually these secret legendary skins are very important to Fortnite’s “story,” but what Epic has in store for Ruin has not been made clear yet, and the new Loot Lake stuff is just confusing, because it looks more like alien tech than anything having to do with a volcano knight. But we’ll have to see.

Here Are All The New Leaked Skins And Cosmetics In Fortnite’s New v8.40 Patch

[ad_1]

Fortnite has had a major, major update today, adding the Air Royale event, a legendary infantry rifle and you should uhhhh really go check out Loot Lake right about now.

Besides that, we have our usual mining of leaked Fortnite cosmetics, with the exception that some of these have actually gone live already with a store refresh that coincides with the Air Royale event. These leaks are courtesy mainly of @Lucas7Yoshi and @HYPEX.

The store has been updated to include the following:

Supersonic (Legendary)

Here we have four skins for the price of one, as buying the Supersonic kit here will unlock four different pilot styles for an entire squad, even if clearly the best one is the skull one and the others are not even close. It’s pricey, but a better value than most legendary skins considering that it’s a four pack. I want it.

Stealth Black (Common)

Dogfight (Common)

These two wraps have hit the store, and though they can be applied to anything, clearly the goal is to put them on planes for this Air Royale event. I mean, how can you pass up a jet black skin for a plane? I mean honestly, that one is worth buying for pretty much everything, if you ask me, all vehicles and guns. And for $3, you’re probably going to get a lot of use out of it.

Gemini

Now we move on to other leaks including a new, techno-futuristic skin called Gemini that has one clear alternate style to it. I’m not sure if it automatically comes with both versions or if these are two separate skins or if you have to unlock one, but I like it, and it should probably hit the store soon.

Surefire (Common)

This one is a reward for the Air Royale event, I believe and is clearly not all that much to look at.

Other Wraps

A few other wraps have leaked, some of which may be tied to Air Royale, some of which may not be.

So far, this appears to be it, a combination of stuff that’s both live in the store, earnable in Air Royale or yet to come in a future update. We have not seen any huge skin leaks for a while now, implying Epic is being trickier about hiding them or there just aren’t quite as many coming up before the end of the season here.

Also, don’t forget that this is the first week that you’re able to get the Ruin skin after completing enough challenges to unlock him. He has his own set of challenges, but what they unlock for him I’m not quite clear on it. Really looking forward to seeing what alternate styles or progressive changes we may see with his skin.

See you out there.

Fortnite’s Final Dig Site Is All Of Loot Lake, Could The Cube Return?

[ad_1]

We may be finally arriving at the ultimate event of season 8 of Fortnite, the great excavation of Loot Lake. For weeks now, we have seen two “world events” happening. A helicopter landing at a dozen+ spots around the map, and three different dig sites where players have been asked to chip in and unearth a number of pits, hacking through lumps of dirt with hundreds of millions of  HP.

Now, both of those events have combined. The Fortnite helicopter has landed at Loot Lake, and the entire area is now surrounded by a number of steamshovels that sure make it look like we are about to be asked to dig up the entire bottom of the lake.

This, of course, is the famed site of the cube explosion where Kevin disintegrated and became Cubehenge after an otherworldly butterfly cutscene. But we have seen the Cube dissolve into the expanse of an entire lake, back when this was a lake, so I don’t think it’s out of the question that we could see the return of the Cube in some way, which would link what we thought were two disparate storylines, the one started by the comet which led to the Visitor which led to the rocket which led to the Cube, and the one that began when the Ice King showed up with his floating fortress.

So far, all three dig sites have had different end results. The first one gave us a volcano vent. The second flooded the pit with lava. The third revealed a giant metal door in the floor. If we start digging up Loot Lake, it’s anyone’s guess what we could find there, although I have to believe that it probably has something to do with the arrival of Ruin, the Week 8 Discovery skin which we could uh, discovery somehow in this Loot Lake dig.

I’m not exactly sure how this will play out, but it seems like that at least a good chunk of Loot Lake will end up being filled by those breakable dirt patches that players will be asked to chop through. It has taken around a full day to dig out these other sites, so if Loot Lake becomes a much, much bigger site, maybe that could take…a full week of everyone working together? Possibly less, if it’s clear that this is “the big one” so more people could be encouraged to participate.

I am hesitant to bring up the eternal “we’re going to fight a world boss” theory, but…maybe? Fortnite players have expected some sort of world boss fight ever since this ability to track damage across all serves made its way into the game. And possibly even before that when we were seeing monster tracks on the ground as early as season 3. It is possible that we may dig up Ruin or a dragon or something and have to fight it at the end, but I have made this prediction a half dozen times now so I am hesitant to make it again. We’ll see, I guess.

Digging should commence in the next day or two. See you out there.
